No rainclouds O! dead tree?

ഒരു മഴയ്ക്ക്‌ കാതോര്‍ത്ത് : വേനല്‍ച്ചൂടിലെ വേദനയില്‍ ഒരു തണല്‍ പോലുമില്ലാത്ത ചുള്ളിക്കൊമ്പില്‍ ഒരു മഴയ്ക്കോ ഇളംകാറ്റിനോ കാതോര്‍ത്തിരിക്കുകയാണ് ഈ കൊക്ക്. പാലക്കാട്‌ മലമ്പുഴയ്ക്കടുത്ത്, ഗ്രാമവും വനവും കൈകോര്‍ക്കുന്ന കവ എന്ന പ്രദേശത്തുനിന്ന് ഒരു കാഴ്ച.
Desolate, dry: Scorching summer has left little cover and no water. This egret is seen against a bright sky which gives no signs of rain clouds. Shot at Kava, a village bordering the Walayar forests and lying close to the Malampuzha dam reservoir near Palakkad town.

വീട്ടിലേയ്ക്കുള്ള വഴിയില്‍: കാറ്റിലാടുന്ന പച്ചപ്പുല്ലുകള്‍ക്കും കതിര്‍മണികള്‍ക്കും വിയര്‍പ്പണിഞ്ഞ ഒരു ഗന്ധമുണ്ട്. മണ്ണിനോട് മല്ലടിക്കുന്ന ഒരു കര്‍ഷകന്റെ  കഥ അവയ്ക്ക് പറയാനുണ്ടാവും. പാടത്തെ പണികഴിഞ്ഞു വീട്ടിലേയ്ക്കു മടങ്ങുകയാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം. പാലക്കാട്‌ കൊടുവായൂരില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു കാഴ്ച.
Pastoral: Winds bracing amidst the toddy palms and paddy fields have a story to tell. A story of tireless striving and naive hopes, at times bearing fruits; at times thwarted by the whiplashes of nature. This farmer is returning home for a sleepful of sweet dreams.

Barren, Broken

വേനല്‍ വിരിഞ്ഞ ഈ പാടത്തേയ്ക്ക് ഒന്ന് നോക്കൂ. കുറച്ചു നാള്‍ മുന്‍പ് ഇവിടം ഒരു ഹരിത ഭൂമിയായിരുന്നു പോല്‍. ആ പ്രതാപമെല്ലാം ഋതുഭേദം കവര്‍ന്നെടുത്തു.  എന്നിട്ടും വേനല്‍ വിരിച്ച പാടങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സൗന്ദര്യമേകി ആകാശത്തിനതിരിട്ടു നില്‍ക്കുകയാണ് ഈ കരിമ്പനകള്‍.  ദൃശ്യം പാലക്കാട്‌ കിണാശേരിയില്‍ നിന്ന്.
Toddy palms look on as the green paddy fields beneath them have hopelessly given up to the piercing arrows of an unduly angry sun. 

Thorns and Clouds of Life

ഒരു നേരത്തെ അന്നതിനായ്:മലമ്പുഴ ഡാമിന് സമീപത്തെ മുളം കാടുകളില്‍ നിന്നും ശേഖരിച്ച ഇല്ലിക്കെട്ടു തലയിലേന്തിയ വീട്ടമ്മ....ഇതു കൊണ്ട് എത്തിച്ചിട്ട് വേണം ഒരു നേരത്തെ അന്നത്തിനുള്ള വഴി തേടാന്‍.
This housewife is seen gathering and carrying dried brambles and bamboo. This can keep her hearth alive. But what does she cook there? To earn something to cook, she now has to put this home and then toil again. The thorns and clouds are but the things that give you the zest for life, no?

For Life; for Your Throat

ഒരിറ്റു വെള്ളത്തിനായ്‌:കാലം കൈവിട്ട രഥവും കടന്ന് ഒരിറ്റു വെള്ളത്തിനായി ശ്മശാന ഭൂമിയിലൂടെ കുടവുമേന്തിയുള്ള യാത്രയിലാണ് ഈ വീട്ടമ്മ. ദൃശ്യം പാലക്കാട്‌ മാട്ടുമന്തയില്‍ നിന്ന്.

ഒരു ദലം. വരണ്ടുണങ്ങിയ ഭുമിയുടെ മാറില്‍ എവിടെ നിന്നോ ഊറിവന്നൊരു തുള്ളിയില്‍ പിടിച്ചു  കുഞ്ഞിളം പച്ചയുമായി കിളിര്‍ത്തു വരികയാണ്‌ ഈ സസ്യങ്ങള്‍.ആ പ്രതീക്ഷകള്‍ക്ക് സുഗന്ധം പകരാനെന്ന പോലെ ആരോ മറന്നിട്ട റോസാപുഷ്പങ്ങള്‍.പ്രണയിനിക്ക് നല്‍കാനായി ഏതോ കാമുകന്‍ ഹൃതയത്തില്‍ ചാലിച്ച് കൊണ്ട് വന്നതാവണം ഈ റോസാപൂക്കള്‍ ...പ്രതീക്ഷകള്‍  അസ്തമിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ആ പനിനീര്‍ പുഷ്പം ഭുമിക്കു നല്‍കി ഹൃദയ വേദനയോടെ നടന്ന ആ പ്രാണനായകന്...

Horizons Bright, Beckoning

തീവ്രപ്രണയത്തിന്‍റെ സുര്യ ശോഭ അസ്തമയതിലെയ്ക്ക് അടുക്കുമ്പോള്‍

എന്നും സുര്യനെ മാത്രം പ്രണയിച്ച കമലി പൂക്കള്‍ നൊമ്പരത്തിന്‍റെ

ശോണിമയില്‍ സായം സന്ധ്യയുടെ ഇളം തെന്നലിനു പോലും ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കനകാതെ തലയാട്ടി 

നില്‍ക്കുന്നു.ദൂരെ ഇലകൊഴിഞ്ഞ മരം ഇതിനെല്ലാം മൂക സാക്ഷി....

Shades, Sands and Water

This sandbanks witness the confluence of two rivers: The Nila and The Thootha. Nila, aka BharathaPuzha, has been a perennial inspiration for M.T.Vasudevan Nair one of the most venerated writers of Kerala. The longest river of Kerala has lost much of its waterbed to sands and bramble bushes.

നിളയുടെ ചുവന്ന വഴികള്‍ 

ഇത് എം. ടി എന്ന കേരളത്തിന്റെ സ്വകാര്യ അഹങ്കാരത്തിനു വഴിയായ കൂടല്ലൂരിന്റെ നാട്ടുവഴി. ഭാരതപ്പുഴയുടെ മണല്‍ പരപ്പില്‍ എന്നും കഥകള്‍ ഉറങ്ങി കിടക്കുന്നു. നിളയില്‍ തൂത ചേരുന്ന ഈ മണല്‍ പുറത്തെത്തുന്ന ഓരോരുത്തരും അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നതും ആ കഥകളാണ്. ചുവന്ന മന്‍വഴികള്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലാത്ത പുതിയ തലമുറയ്ക് കത്ത് വച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന നിളയൊഴുകുന്ന വഴിയിലൂടെ തലയില്‍ ഒരു ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഭാരവുമേന്തി നടന്നെത്തുന്ന കര്‍ഷക സ്ത്രീ. ദൃശ്യം പാലക്കാടിന്റെ അതിര്‍ത്തിയായ കൂടല്ലൂരില്‍ നിന്ന്.
