Serene Pastorals

Cattle grazing on the green banks of a stream, accompanied by swarms of white storks. In the forefront there are a lot of toddy palms, and behind them rich stout coconut palms.

വീട്ടിലേയ്ക്കുള്ള വഴിയില്‍: കാറ്റിലാടുന്ന പച്ചപ്പുല്ലുകള്‍ക്കും കതിര്‍മണികള്‍ക്കും വിയര്‍പ്പണിഞ്ഞ ഒരു ഗന്ധമുണ്ട്. മണ്ണിനോട് മല്ലടിക്കുന്ന ഒരു കര്‍ഷകന്റെ  കഥ അവയ്ക്ക് പറയാനുണ്ടാവും. പാടത്തെ പണികഴിഞ്ഞു വീട്ടിലേയ്ക്കു മടങ്ങുകയാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം. പാലക്കാട്‌ കൊടുവായൂരില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു കാഴ്ച.
Pastoral: Winds bracing amidst the toddy palms and paddy fields have a story to tell. A story of tireless striving and naive hopes, at times bearing fruits; at times thwarted by the whiplashes of nature. This farmer is returning home for a sleepful of sweet dreams.

Lush Lovely Greens

A view of Thasarak's paddy fields bordered with toddy palms.  This was the setting for the celebrated novel 'The Legend of Khasak' by the versatile bilingual author and cartoonist O.V. Vijayan.

വയലിനെ പുണര്‍ന്നു കിടക്കുന്ന കരിമ്പന തണലുകള്‍, ഞാറ്റുപുരയിലെ ക്ലാസ് മുറി, സാന്ധ്യസുന്ദരി പോലെ താമരക്കുളം,അല്ലാപിച്ച മൊല്ലാക്കയുടെ ബാങ്ക് വിളി തസ്രാക്കിന്റെ ആകാശത്ത് തുമ്പികളായി പറന്നലയുന്നു. മലയാളികളുടെ ഭാവനയെ ഇത്രമേല്‍ ആവേശിച്ച ഖസാക്കിന്‍റെ ഈ തീരം അക്ഷരം പഠിച്ച ഓരോ തീര്‍ഥാടകനും   വിശുദ്ധമാക്കാന്‍ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്..
