The Grand Clumination

 The grand finale of the Pariyanampatta Pooram. Dummy horses and dummy bullocks line up on either sides, along with live caparisoned elephants to the accompaniment of the enchanting rhythms of Panchavadyam and Chendamelam.

സ്വര്‍ഗം താണിറങ്ങി വന്നതോ ....  

ആകാശത്തിലെവിടയോ ഉള്ള സ്വര്‍ഗത്തിന് നേരെ ചൂണ്ടുന്ന രഥം ... വള്ളുവനാടന്‍ വള്ളൂവനാടന്‍   ഗ്രാമക്കഴ്ച്ചകളുടെ സമസ്ത സൌന്ദര്യവും കാണണമെങ്കില്‍ ഇവിടെയെത്തണം ...ഇതാണു പരിയാനമ്പറ്റ..ഇണക്കാളകളും കുതിരകളും ഓരോ ദേശത്തിന്റെ അവേശമായി നിരക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഈ ഉല്‍സവക്കാഴ്ച്ചയ്ക്ക്  പരിസമാപ്തി. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം എല്ലാ മലയാളികളും കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടാകും .... ഐ.വി ശശിയുടെ ദേവാസുരത്തിലൂടെ....

Bhaarathappuzha, Nila

 One face of the Nila river aka BharataPuzha, the longest river of Kerala. It's a cultural icon of North Kerala's rural life, and has inspired many a writer. Nowadays, sand mining and other human invasions have bereft the river of its beauty and water richness. Only for a few months during the monsoons do the river flow full. Other times narrow streams in the middle of the flow trail are enshrouded by vast sand banks.

ഇതാ നിളയുടെ ഒരു തീരം......വള്ളുവനാടന്‍ ഗ്രാമങ്ങളുടെ സംസ്കാരം അലിഞ്ഞു ചേര്‍ന്നിട്ടുണ്ട് ഈ പുഴയില്‍... ............. .... ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തിന്റെ വിശുദ്ധിയും സ്വപ്നവും  അനുഭവിച്ചറിയാം ഈ കടവിലെത്തുന്നവര്‍ക്ക്

          തീരം. മാമാങ്ക സ്മൃതികള്‍, കാളവേലയുടെ ചന്തം, ഗജരാജന്മാര്‍ തിളമ്പേറ്റുന്ന 

          ഉത്സവ മുറ്റങ്ങള്‍, താള ഗോപുരമുയരുന്ന ആല്‍തറകള്‍അ ഴകിനു പേരാണ് നിള.....

          കല്‍‌പാത്തിയുടെ അഗ്രഹാര വീഥികളും, വാളയാര്‍ ചുരം കടനെത്തുന്ന കരിമ്പനകാറ്റും , 

          ചെമ്പൈയുടെ സംഗീത മുറ്റവും നിളയുടെ നീര്‍ വഴികള്‍ക്ക് മാറ്റു കുട്ടുന്നു...

C-DIT's technical writing course

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With a view to preparing candidates for a career in technical writing, the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) has launched a one-year course on the subject.
The curriculum gives emphasis on practical training and the performance of students would be assessed on a continuous evaluation mode.
Apart from special training sessions on improving English language skills, there will be sessions on personality development,technical writing software etc. Applications have been invited for the programme that costs Rs.60,000. Priority will be given to those who have completed B.Tech, B.Sc, BA English and BA Mass Communication and Journalism. Those who have written the final year degree examinations can also apply.
